“Ruia te kākano kia puāwai ai tātou”

Sowing the seed of unity so that we can flourish together.

Our mission

“Tikina he wai o Te Huhunu kia rongo ai au i te reka o te wai”

Fetch me the waters of Te Huhunu so that I may taste its sweetness.

Te Huhunu is a spring that in former times supplied the families of Pirirākau with fresh water.
During periods of drought when all other springs had dried up, Te Huhunu continued to flow.
It was said by the old people to contain a special healing mineral that was often craved during times of illness.

This kōrero has been handed down through the generations to remind us that healing and wellbeing lies within our resources.
It is a communal tāonga that belongs to all the whānau of Pirirākau and of which we all take a collective responsibility.
Pirirākau Hauora has drawn inspiration from this kōrero to take us into the future so that once again the Te Huhunu spring will
provide for our wellbeing.
And to once again drink the healing waters of Te Huhunu.

Our Vision

Pirirākau Hauora Boundaries

Pirirākau Hauora service area covers from the Wairoa River to the Waipapa Stream, across to the Kaimai Ranges in the west and to the sea. These are Pirirākau tribal boundaries including Te Puna, Whakamārama and Ōmokoroa.

Some of our contracts can support whānau within the Bay of Plenty catchment from Ōtāwhiwhi to Ōtamarākau and Maketu.
