Dr Malcolm Christie

General Practitioner

My name is Malcolm Christie. I have been working as a GP at Pirirakau Hauora since 2017.
We have been looking for a replacement for Dr Nigel who left at the end of 2019.
I am pleased to welcome our new GP Dr Vaune Alexis who recently joined the clinical team.
We are expecting it will be easier to get an appointment with the two of us working
alongside
each other. I will be reducing my hours back to three days a week now that Vaune has arrived.
I am also very pleased to welcome Anne Schenkel to the nursing team. We now have a full
complement of medical staff which will improve our service provision to the community.
I was born and raised in Lower Hutt. After attending Otago University I worked in the Wellington and Hawkes Bay
regions before coming to Tauranga with my wife in 2001. I enjoy spending time with my three children who are now aged 15, 17 and 19.
I look forward to seeing you at Pirirakau Hauora

I grew up in a lovely paradise we call Te Puna. Went to Te Puna school, was in the Pirirakau Youth group growing up, brought up on the Marae and done hakas with the rest of the whanau.
Been home for the past 5 years and have been doing health since I’ve been home. Loved every minute of it. I have done caring in the community. As well as working in a rest home, not only as a HCA but also done 2 years of
diversional therapy while I was there.

My role here as the covid facilitator, is to help educate our whanau about the covid19 and to help educate about the vaccine. I’m also in the process of doing my training to assist with vaccinations.
Get at me if you have any questions. I can call you, video call you or write you a letter if you need to help your whanau.
